Strategy and Quality

A strategy that places quality at the core of its activities: clear objectives, continuous monitoring of results achieved, and improvement actions. The department presents its Strategic Plan.

What is the Strategic Plan of the Department

It is the vision that outlines the Department’s purpose in its core missions—teaching, research, and third mission (social impact)—and communicates its contribution to the improvement of society.

It defines the Department’s three-year strategy by setting objectives and identifying actions and methods to monitor and evaluate the results achieved.

By establishing its long-term objectives, the Department operates in coordination with the initiatives of our University, with the aim of fostering joint actions at all levels of the institution. The Strategic Plan of the Department is defined in alignment with the areas and objectives of the University Strategic Plan and in accordance with the guiding principles for quality expressed in the University Quality Assurance document.

Continuous improvement

The three-year objectives defined in the Strategic Plan of the Department are monitored annually according to clear, transparent, defined and documented criteria in order to identify any problems and develop appropriate improvement actions. The Department also identifies operational objectives for administrative activities in order to measure organisational performance, i.e. the contribution made to institutional missions.

The Department has established the Departmental Quality Assurance Committee and also monitors its own governance system and internal quality assurance system to assess whether the organisation (in terms of the allocation of responsibilities and committees) needs to be adapted to evolving requirements.

The document in which the Department formalises its self-assessment with the involvement of teaching, technical-administrative staff and the student community is the Annual Department Review.
